One World Running

I received the opportunity to be a co-leader for the trip to Boulder, Colorado this past June to participate in a program called One World Running. One World Running is a nonprofit organization that was started by one of the most amazing men in the world Mike Sandrock. He was running a race and saw that one of the men who beat him had no tennis shoes, after the race Mike then donated his own shoes to this runner and twenty five years later the organization is still going strong. Mike along with a team of incredible and generous people continue every day to receive shoes, wash and prep shoes to be sent out to kids and adults in need of a good pair of shoes. I was lucky enough to help participate in the organization, cleaning and shipping of these shoes for one week and this trip has completely changed my life. I had the opportunity to see first hand true passion for life, that the little things in life really do matter and was able to meet some of the most inspiring and fascinating people I have ever met. Every member of the organization has an eight to five job everyday they still manage to get every person in need a pair of shoes locally, nationally and internationally and with every delivery of shoes at least one of the members goes to make sure the delivery is made (including if it is in Haiti or anywhere else in the world) and they pay out of pocket. It was truly incredible to see a nonprofit group with so much heart and drive to make this dream of theirs a reality. I would highly recommend doing a Buck-I-Serv trip to Colorado to anyone or if you are in the Boulder area or even in Columbus to donate that old or new pair of shoes so someone else may have the chance to enjoy a day walking in a pair of shoes.
